The Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian's website provides information about the way in which it promotes and protects the rights, interests and wellbeing of all Queenslanders under 18 years of age.

Freedom Centre

Freedom Centre supports young people (under 26) to be happy and healthy about their sexuality and gender.

Gravity

Gravity is a non-profit suicide wwareness & prevention charity based in Geelong, Victoria. Gravity is organised by teenagers and aims to spread help-seeking and protective messages to teenagers.

Hannah Modra - 'The Girl Least Likely', Australian Story, ABC TV

This is a tribute page set up in memory of Hannah Modra, a 17-year old Melbourne teenager who tragically took her own life. Hannah's depression and suicide, and the experience of her family in coming to terms with their loss, was the focus of an episode of Australian Story (ABC TV) titled ‘The Girl Least Likely’ which has attracted remarkable responses from both health professionals and the general public; in particular, other teenagers who wrote to Australian Story with accounts of having been encouraged to seek professional help for their own depression, following the screening of Hannah’s story. ‘The Girl Least Likely’ can be viewed online by clicking here.

The Head High - Young People Living Beyond Suicide program, based on the Sunshine Coast, provides suicide bereavement support for young people, by young people.

headspace

headspace is Australia's National Youth Mental Health Foundation. The headspace mission is to deliver improvements in the mental health, social wellbeing and economic participation of young Australian’s aged 12-25. headspace offers services for young people who may be experiencing mental health and/or drug and alcohol issues and the latest information about these important health issues for young people. headspace sites are located across Australia.

Inspire Foundation

The mission of the Inspire Foundation is to create opportunities for young people aged 16-25 to change their world. By "their world", we mean whatever is real for them. This could be struggling with depression or suicidal thoughts, wanting to do something for their local community or simply experiencing new ways to learn and grow. The Inspire Foundation operate the Reach Out! website.

Kids Help Line

Kids Help Line (1800 55 1800) is a free, confidential and anonymous, telephone and online counselling service specifically for young people aged between 5 and 25.

KidsMatter

KidsMatter is a primary school mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention initiative. It is currently being piloted in primary schools and aims to be available to all primary schools across Australia in 2009.

Menslink

Menslink is a dynamic, non-profit, charitable association promoting the value, well-being and social participation of young men by providing appropriate and professional services with outreach activities.

MindMatters

MindMatters is a national mental health initiative for secondary schools funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing. MindMatters uses a whole school approach to mental health promotion and offers resources to secondary schools across Australia. Professional development workshops are available to people working in education services. Accessible from the website are resources to assist schools and teachers deal with young people at risk of suicide.

ORYGEN Youth Health

ORYGEN Youth Health is a service providing help to young people in the western area of Melbourne who have experienced mental health issues. The organisation offers a health service, a research centre and a range of education, training, advocacy and health promotion activities. The website contains factsheets and an online resource store. Training on a range of youth mental health issues is available.

Reach Out!

Reach Out! is a web-based service that inspires young people (aged 16-25) to help themselves through tough times. The website offers fact sheets, forums, and other resources designed specifically for youth.

Reach Out Central

Reach Out Central is an interactive game that helps young people learn and improve life skills such as problem-solving, coping, communication and positive thinking, and helps them to identify the link between their choices, interactions with people and their mood.

Reach Out Pro

Reach Out Pro provides access and advice for health care professionals on a range of technologies and online resources that can be used to enhance the effectiveness of psychosocial support and mental health care provided to young people.

Reach Out Teachers Network

The Reach Out Teachers’ Network connects secondary school teachers with Reach Out, Inspire's web-based mental health service for young people.

SunnyKids

SunnyKids aims to break intergenerational cycles of poverty and disadvantage, providing the hope and resilience necessary to move forward, both as individuals and as a society. SunnyKids offers a range of services including Najidah homelessness services in confidential locations throughout Australia, Headhigh: Young People Living Beyond Suicide support groups, and SCIPS: Supporting Children In Primary Schools which connects families with relevant community resources and professional services to help them overcome the root causes of issues that are resulting in the child’s learning or schooling difficulties.

Twenty 10

Twenty 10 is an organisation for young (under 26 years) gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, same-sex attracted and gender-questioning people who are having problems at home or have recently become homeless.

Yellow Ribbon Programme, Midwest region of Western Australia

The Yellow Ribbon programme promotes help seeking behaviours in young people to ask for help, as per the Mind Matters mental health promotion materials.

Youth Beyond Blue (Ybblue)

Youth Beyond Blue is the youth program of beyondblue. The website provides information on depression and anxiety written especially for young people. The site contains a forum to allow young people to share their experiences with depression and anxiety.

Youth Focus

Youth Focus is a West Australian, non-profit community based organisation working with young people, aged 12 to 18 years, who are showing early signs associated with suicide, depression and self-harm. Youth Focus can also provide services to their families. Youth Focus values young lives by ensuring the emotional well-being of young people, developing their self worth and offering them the opportunity to reach their full potential.
